This product is currently sold out.
Vintage Nemadji Indian Pottery vase with an organic aesthetic of natural earth tone swirls on an off-white/light-beige background. The vase has an unglazed matte finish with a glazed interior.
No two pieces are exactly alike. I have heard there is a book on "The Myth and Magic of Nemadji Indian Pottery," that can be found on Amazon.
Nemadji Tile & Pottery Co. of Moose Lake, Minnesota, began producing their swirled pottery in 1929. A distinctive product and clever marketing were the roots of their success. The name “Nemadji” is an Ojibwe word meaning “left-handed,” but was easily misunderstood to be the name of a tribe.
In excellent vintage condition showing minimal age appropriate wear, no large chips or cracks.
8" tall and 4.5" in diameter.
